Type 7 Installation

  1. Make sure door opening is square and plumb. This is important for proper operation and appearance of doors.
  2. Lay out a centerline on the vertical jamb from top to bottom.   This line will be used to locate the mounting holes.
  3. Place the top mount (the top mount has the rollers and roller cradle already attached) in the top corner of the jamb with the shaft pin pointing down and use the countersunk mounting holes on the mount as a template to mark the locations on the door jamb.
  4. Place the bottom mount in the bottom corner of the jamb with the shaft pin pointing up and use the countersunk mounting holes on the mount as a template to mark the locations on the door jamb.
  5. At each of the locations marked in steps 3 and 4, drill and tap for 5/16-18 machine screws.
  6. Attach the bottom mount using the 5/16-18 x 1 1/4" countersunk machine screws.
  7. Attach the top mount (including roller cradle) using the 5/16 x 1 1/4" countersunk machine screws.
  8. Set the door onto the lower shaft and attach the top cradle bracket to the roller cradle using the 1/4-20 x 3/4" hex head bolts and lock nuts as shown below.  The roller cradle is slotted to allow for adjustment.
  9. Attach the hinge cover plates using the 10 x 3/4 screws.   The cover plates have holes predrilled, but the door is not.  Hand drill holes in the door after you have decided exactly where you want the cover located.
  10. (Only if teardrop bumpers are used)  Attach the teardrop bumpers using the 1/4-20 x 2/12 hex head lag bolts.  The teardrop bumpers and the doors are predrilled.
